Sometimes the digital world can feel like a distance between you and your learners. This six-day Erasmus+ course helps you understand what happens on the other side – and turn that understanding into stronger connection, trust and support.

Young people’s digital lives shape how they communicate, build relationships, express themselves and experience the world. For educators, understanding this reality can open the door to better conversations and stronger connections.
Inside Their Digital World invites you to explore digital life from your learners’ perspective through realistic situations, hands-on activities and discussion. You’ll look at digital identity and culture, online relationships and wellbeing, risks, algorithms, misinformation and AI – and consider what these mean in everyday educational situations.
Along the way, you’ll develop practical ways to build trust, start conversations, respond to difficult situations and support learners when they need help. You’ll return to your own educational environment with greater awareness, confidence and a clearer sense of how to guide young people in the digital world.
For educators who want to better understand the digital world their learners live in – and use that understanding to build stronger relationships, communicate with greater confidence and offer meaningful support when it is needed.
Ideal for:
No advanced technical knowledge is required.
Instead of simply learning about young people’s digital lives, you’ll explore situations from their point of view. The course is built around a deliberate shift from judging to observing, experiencing, understanding and connecting.
Online life is more than cyberbullying, screen time and safety. You’ll also explore identity, creativity, humour, friendships, belonging, online communities and the positive experiences that make digital spaces meaningful to young people – alongside the challenges, risks, algorithms and AI that shape their lives.
Technology is the context, but people are at the heart of the course. Everything you explore comes back to one question: how can this understanding help you build trust, have better conversations and become an adult your learners feel comfortable turning to when they need support?
Learning should be something you experience – not something you simply listen to.
Throughout the week, you’ll step into situations, take on new perspectives, experiment, create, discuss, laugh and discover together with educators from across Europe.
There are no long days of sitting and listening. You’ll learn through games, simulations, creative challenges, real-life scenarios and shared experiences – often discovering the meaning of an activity only after you have experienced it yourself.

Digital Identity, Privacy & Digital Footprints
Explore how young people present themselves online and how digital identity, privacy, personal information and digital footprints shape the way they see themselves and others.
Day 2 – What Makes Them Stop, Watch & Share?
Inside Youth Digital Culture
Step into the world of memes, short videos, influencers, trends and online communities to understand what attracts young people and what these spaces mean to them.
Day 3 – Connected – But How?
Online Relationships, Belonging & Well-being
Explore friendships, group chats, gaming communities, FOMO and social comparison – and look beyond screen time to understand the social and emotional side of being connected.
Day 4 – When the Digital World Hurts
Risk, Harm & Asking for Help
Work with realistic situations involving cyberbullying, privacy, manipulation and other online risks, and explore how trust and supportive communication can make it easier for learners to ask for help.
Day 5 – Can You Believe What You See?
AI, Algorithms & the New Digital Reality
Explore algorithms, AI-generated content, deepfakes and misinformation, and consider how educators can help learners navigate an increasingly complex digital reality.
Day 6 – From Their World Back to Our Classroom
Connection, Trust & Educational Response
Bring the week back to your own practice: explore how to start conversations, build trust, balance rules with dialogue and decide what you would like to do differently with your learners.
